Simply put the best and brightest doctors are leaving states where they pay high malpractice premiums and relocating to states that are more “friendly”. Malpractice insurance rates vary from 25,000 per year to over 200,000 per year for the same doctor depending on the practice location. I just went through the process of deciding where I was going to practice next and I spent far more time looking at the white states, some time in the yellow states and limited time in any state colored red.
